Hello fellas! Welcome back to the blog! Let’s review the entrants this week.....
Niall Horan - Too Much To Ask (#33)
Dua Lipa - New Rules (#30)
Too Much To Ask
Niall Horan smashes with his second song on the Weekend Countdown! Now, Too Much To Ask isn’t as good as Slow Hands, but it definitely isn’t bad. I think the guitar for the verses needs a bit of an improvement, but the vocals shine a lot. The lyrics are really good and I was overjoyed when this was the next single from Flicker. Speaking of which, I recommend to you one of the songs off of there. It’s called Seeing Blind featuring Maren Morris. Enough of non-singles off of Flicker (I don’t think Seeing Blind is a single yet), but Too Much To Ask is a really sweet song that deserves success.
Rating: 9.5/10 (would be 10 if it weren’t for the verse guitar)
New Rules
After Blow Your Mind (Mwah) fails its debut, Dua decides to create a new song off of the self titled album. The lyrics are pretty cool and I like the production. The vocals aren’t exactly the best I can find, but I guess it’s good for now. So overall, enjoyable track and here’s to hoping this does good.
Rating: 8.5/10
I Got New Rules, I Blurb ‘Em
~ Starting with our exits, The Cure needed to leave. About freaking time. As for Two Ghosts, it was kinda fading on me, but it is still pretty disappointing to see it leave. Kiwi, the more lively Harry Styles song, is on HitBound though, so we can tell it’ll probably do better due to Hits 1 logic, where aside from Sam Smith and other soul singers, the slow songs flop and the upbeat and lively songs do something.
~ My opinion has been changing randomly for Lights Down Low these past weeks and now, I don’t really know what to think of it. It’s catchy, but I don’t think I’ll be able to remember this song for much longer.
~ I shouldn’t really be surprised to see Look What You Made Me Do falling face flat like that. It’s sinking hard on Billboard right now, falling to #25 from #10 last week. I think Call it What You Want should debut HitBound soon too. I would not be surprised to see this go next week. There are a lot of people, however that don’t like this change. It’s slowly falling in in both Digital Sales and AirPlay though. NEXT!
~ Why is Body Like A Back Road jumping? CHANT WITH ME! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN! LEAVE THE COUNTDOWN!
~ *sees #14* THANK YOU, HITS 1! THANK YOU FOR GETTING THIS BIG PIECE OF GARBAGE OUTSIDE THE TOP 10! MAKE IT DROP EVEN MORE NEXT WEEK! BUT I STILL CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH!
~ *sees #7* For some reason, we exchanged a big piece of garbage for an even bigger piece of garbage. This just needs to go away and never bother us again. Please stop with this jumping and start dropping. Maybe like how Look What You Made Me Do did. But please just never see us again. That is my whole point.
~ Hits 1 realized how incredibly late they were with Perfect and made it rocket blast into the Top 5. I can definitely handle this for the next several months. As long as it doesn’t get ridiculously overplayed.
~ What About Us made a small leap to #2 this week. I still really enjoy this and it is allowed to stay for the next few months, too.
~ That Top 20 is a true sea of mighty goodness! Thanks, Hits 1! I appreciate it a lot!
